N-Paraffin is extracted from kerosene, which contains about 20/25% paraffin. It is, therefore, generally produced close to a refinery as the kerosene is. The liquid is a colourless, flammable and odourless clear hydrocarbon. In addition, it is a major raw material used to produce linear alkylbenzenes.
